Any word on a 64 bit version ?

For general discussion related FlowStone

Nowadays seems that or you make Flowstone 64bit and MAC-OSX or you can leave it die as audio application development platform.
I'm not sure i'll spend more time in it whitout these. 64 bit is easier, Mac-osx and AU requires a rewrite and a new total direction of the program.

I do not belive that DSPR will ever do Mac, that is sure.

We need other applications not so limited, fresh and new.
This is going to be a program for "personal" creation only.. A toy.

(BTW, I´d really like to know what are the devs doing about this.... it seems like we could start talking about our plans to take over DSPRobotics or develop our own platform or supporting Synthedit or anything like that and they wouldn´t even care.....)

. . . this is a project which DSPR will do. Not us :D

And they do care

And they do care

So, I'm wondering why shouldn't they show it, for the start. All we asked for is just saying few word. a small informing. Why they avoid of speaking to people who believe in them and support them?

Any way, any kind of enterprise is welcome here. Something must change. Planning 64bit is a good start. Saying few words to forum, for the start would be great as well. If they see us a part of their big future picture, they should at least honor us with a few words and small conversation.

The join of synthmaker andò Flowstone was a fail.
Noto fail for itself, but now it will more hard to go 64..

Alot of new primitves to be translated that we dont even care..

While making a separate product was easier. Maybe robot makers, teachers and studenta and all these customers do not even need 64 bit.
Especially for embedded systems..
Imagine how many new problems can introduces!

I suggest to make different builds, for audio and for other stuff. Separate them will be less work.......

So since the devs are not replying, I stay in my opinion that they will not respond and do nothing about it.
Flowstone will be dead as soon as synthedit 64 bit and au will be out in a stable form.

And.... If we stop to talking to "walking dead" and we start to develop our own platform?
Im sure that a lot of Devs will join with us in a open source software... Maybe using juce or other frameworks...

No more pay for nothing, we can make a community software.

Starting from Genera can be a good start point..

The problem with Juce is licensing.... you can use Juce freely as long as your projects isn´t commercial. I guess that even if you made a free version of FS, eventually someone would want to use an exported VST as a commercial product and since some parts of JUCE would need to be included in said VST then there´ll be licensing problems.

If the program just export C++ code, i think Juce licensing will be fine. (you compile it then, at your own).
Other solutions are iPlug or other non-audio frameworks that also export for mobiles. (they will need the audio part and midi).

I cannot do it alone, no skills for that. But sure i will be able to make alot of components to be used in. (and debug, beta test, graphic stuff, forum moderation, marry you, give you a child and so on..)

Great minds think alike.

marry you, give you a child

Glad to see you are DEDICATED there CS! :D

Look, I think that discussing a totally separate app designed to support 32/64bit plus multiple OS's on DSPR forums is a bit cheeky. Thats not where I was going on this topic & im not disrespecting the devs here for that. :?

That being said I still believe that the devs care (might not be as vocal as we want) but thats not the issue.

I wanted to spark some interest in a kickstarter project for the FS devs to see us chatting about on these forums & maybe decide to go ahead with it.

I feel that ,right now, if you are needing 64Bit / AU options then FS is not for you. But maybe in the next few months we will see a FS64 (Audio Edition) kickstarter page! :P

Would like to ear some official news perhaps.. :o

Someone try to contact them in a private chat then they migth come here and explain what they want to do at least with 64bit.

Well I would love to see a 64 bit version, and I might come back, but it has just taken too long and I have really started to loose interest in this software. Actually I started to loose interest when I found out that the ruby DLL was being copied on the fly. Truth be told, I was not that impressed with the decision to include Ruby in the first place. I thought they should have stuck a little closer to MS scripting technologies. There is not going to ever be a mac version so why bother adding a *barely supported non-windows language in the first place. They could have added the WSH technologies in a day or two and not had the kind of problems they did with Ruby. Then as it turns out, all the power that we could have had from ruby is gone because we cannot support COM objects.

Just my 2 cents...

*Barely supported by windows.
