Super Spring Reverb - a New approach !

Postby rocknrollkat » Sun Jan 07, 2018 9:13 pm

Hi gang,
A few days ago I built "Surf Reverb", emulating those great spring reverbs of the 1960s.
I wasn't totally satisfied, it was (and still is) a prototype, then it occurred to me....
Can a 'springer' reverb be built with NO allpass filters ?
I went back to the drawing board, came up with a totally new approach.
I started developing the hookup this morning, and this afternoon I'm really twanged out.
Here's what I came up with.
And keep in mind, 'springers' have no problem being overdriven, that's part of their sound.
Problem is, though, 16 bit digital doesn't deal with that concept too well (at all), so BE CAREFUL !
I have included about 20 presets, ALL work fine on my machine, but BE CAREFUL horsing around with the LEVELS !
Also, notice the LF rolloff. It's there for a reason.
There is a TON of energy in the lower frequencies, and they will overdrive the spring EASILY.
The springs love it, digital doesn't.
See how I configured the presets, and enjoy annoying the neighbors with this latest Dead Simple addition to your noisemaker box ! (Very LOW CPU drain, by the way).
And yes, this is a prototype as well....

ROXY :D

I use Your spring reverb for commercial project vocals. I will make sure to mention You and Your company, Your product is truly above and beyond most that have been made and I'm very happy with the results.

I've never liked any reverb but Anwida and Algorverb, I also like the one by SSL (and am waiting on the reverb plates by waves).
Yours is great and I thank You for sharing this for free.
