This is coming along nicely!

The Default function for controls rarely works as expected with new presets. This, I think, is due to data being present in the schematic from previous uses of the knobs. So, when a new preset is called, this hidden and unexpected data is applied, so you don’t get the set default value because the Preset Manager prim references old data still present. This is not desirable, but normal.

There is a way to solve this, but I don’t normally bother: You replace the Preset Parameter prim with a new one from the toolbox. Drag it in, select it and add the existing prim to the selection. Right-click on the selection and choose Swap links. This is then a virgin knob and you can delete the old prim.

In many knobs the default setting is called when you do a cntrl-click. But those old smaller knobs you’ve used don’t feature this facility.

I’ve attached a modified version of your better knobs. These can be set to default with a wireless trigger. Look inside to see how the "Last" prim is wired.

My Quilcom Bridgit used this kind of system to provide a global DEFAULT function.

Hope this helps!

Cheers

Spogg

Many thanks for the kind words, detailed help, and knob example, Spogg!
I won't have access to my FS computer for a bit, but rest assured- when I have the chance to implement this, I certainly will. It's great to have positive feedback for what's working, and constructive advice for what isn't.
...Now if only could talk LaLaLand into doing a GUI when all the technical kinks are gone... ;)

PS I'd forgotten to mention earlier: there's actually a total of 20 different stereo modes- Modes 1-4 (A), then each of those 4 modes can be modified with (B) 1-4. Perhaps not a necessary tip, but especially helpful if running complex audio (rather than just an instrument) is making all your fine-tuning to Combellish at 100% wet, then dialing it down until your wet/dry is where you want it.

Updated with "Initialize" button in the preset manager for hopefully sensible default control values, added pre-wet Low/High frequency cutoff controls (see original post for updated version)... sort of a kludge for the cutoffs, since I just used Martin's 3-band splitter (Thanks Martin!) for each channel with only the mid freq being output, but it works- even if not the most efficient/elegant solution. I felt that since comb-filter-based phase shifting can sometimes sound metallic, the ability to roll off the high end would be appreciated, and if doing that much, why not also have the ability to adjust the low end as well?

If going beyond the 8 example presets, pressing Initialize is necessary to get reasonable, non-annoying default values for the controls, but at least it's there now (Thanks a heap again, Spogg!).

As always, constructive feedback is always welcome- if the GUI is too butt-ugly for you, please feel free to petition a GUI-guru like LaLaLand or k brown to make it pretty ;)

Hi again-
My brain unclogged enough to realize that one feature found on many stereo delay/modulation plugins that would be likely considered a welcome edition to Combellish (I'm thinking especially the comb filter feedforward/back knobs, but the delay matrix and other parameters too) is the link/unlink switch; Chris Hooker's "Linkable Knobs" schematic http://www.dsprobotics.com/support/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=11388&p=40895 is wonderful, as it allows preserving the relative values of the knobs. I'm going to try out automation on an exported test version of his schematic and see what happens, as nobody ever replied to his posts, and it's worth exploring, if I want to incorporate his work into Combellish without breaking parameter automation. My other question (since I only know just enough to be dangerous) has to do with his use of an adapted stock animated/bitmap knob- and I honestly am not sure if his adaptations would translate easily to vector knobs, for instance.

In any case, whatever feedback (other than "learn the details of knob types in FS, dummy") can be provided would be most welcome. Sorry it's been almost a month with no updates, life was tearing me away from working on it!

Generally speaking, the drawing of a control is pretty much separate from the mouse interactions, automation, etc., taking only a 0.0..1.0 value to determine the position - though the way that the stock DSPr controls are "modularised" doesn't always make this particularly obvious! Aside from special cases, pretty much any typical knob could be sliced up so that there's a separate "drawing" module with only a 'value' input (I'm working on some "modular" control templates at the moment which are arranged this way - though it may be a while before they're ready to post!)

Re: the control linking, see my reply on Chris' thread.

Thanks for both replies, trog- I agree that there's too many problems to bother with automating linked knobs- will leave that a GUI only feature. I will keep in mind that the "drawing" of a control is (or should be) separate from the actual function of the control.. just diving down into the sub-modules of Chris Hooker's knobs to see how they work (which bits are necessary to have the proper function, etc.) is a bit more "Oh. There's a field of green complexity I wasn't expecting" than I'd hoped- but I'd rather take the time to actually understand what's going on rather than brute-force guesswork my way into a solution. I'll get there at some point- it'll just be slower than it'd be for people who are better at holding what's where and why in their heads than me..

Thanks Halon!
I've been occupied with various demands on my time that haven't let me lavish any attention on Combellish, but that should change this week- another update is coming, I promise! ;)

Would you mind if I used some of the parts for a vocal shaper and width enhancer? I'd of course give credit.
