Any 24db lp hp filters?

Postby JHud » Fri Oct 02, 2015 6:12 pm

Hi everyone I am new to the forum and so far a happy customer!
Does anyone know of any free 24 dB LP and HP filters are that are CPU efficient? Also is there any one who can explain how they work. Thank you!

Hi JHud, welcome to the forum! There is a lowpass filter pack on FS Guru here. I have a similar set for highpass filters which I will upload soon. You might want to take the opportunity to browse through the FS Guru site, there is some good material there.

However, regarding filters, what is your target application? There is a difference if you talk static filters for e.g. band splitting or noise removal, or - and that is an entirely different story - a Moog style filter for a synth, with sample rate modulation, saturation etc. The above link addresses primarily the former, but we have also implementations of the latter.

Hey, and you can search this forum. ;)

Thank you for the response. I want to make a simple plugin that boost the the highs for extra sparkle for vocals. :) Maybe cut lows too.

In that case it might be better to use shelving filters. Wanna try these? Problem I see with 24 dB/octave LP or HP is that you pretty much kill everything in the stopband. Might be cool as a special effect, not sure if that's what you're after.

Thanks once again. I will try the shelving filters. This might also give me a smoother transition for a lowcut and high boost. :D

Aren't 1 pole filters better on cpu?
