My philosophy is quite the same. For instance, I don't think in terms of "synth" or "sampler" anymore. I much think in term of "tools per crowd", no matter how they actually work. I don't think that I would ever create a synthesis behemoth with FS that can compete with Serum, so I won't even try. But I can build a niche synth\sampler\whatever that amateurs and young people would love use because it's looking good, it's easy to use and very intuitive, even though it lacks the 100 million features and controls for an extra gentle sound tweaking. Just wish we could create a decent rompler with it's own dedicated sound-pool, fast loading times and reasonable cpu\ram usage, like nexus without the pain of the technical issues.

By remarkable coincidence I’m helping Johan (djbrynte) to develop such a thing right now. :shock:
I’m only doing the sample handling, which has been really tricky. Plugin load time is about 2 seconds on my PC.

It’s coming along nicely but it’s his project, so it’s for him to handle queries etc..

As Kevin said, I was just ruminating and asking general questions for anyone to comment.
These are genuine questions though, so I would like to gather viewpoints.
In the end, as you say, it’s up to developers and sound designers to decide what they prefer to make. But strong opinions with good reasoning can help the direction.
