IF Jeff brings out SE in its ready state, i believe some SM/FS lovers will say goodbye for now to SM/FS and buy and switch over to SE. Maybe one's in a while checking FS to see if there is any progress which would make them using FS again.
But i believe that if Jeff brings it on the market he has a very BIG step ahead on FS, 64 bit and MAC support.
That is what most people here want, so the choice would be simple then.

i tried SE a few times and always was angry after to waste my time with it (the same like with FL studio which i also dont like

) - you also need to like the workflow and the way a program works and for me it doesn`t..
beside that, to make quality plugins with SE you need c++, also FS offers you the possibility to include c++ dll`s (sadly not for audio) - so before i work another 1 or 2 years to get comfortable wit SE (which will not be working well with mac and 64 for the next year i think) i spend this time and energy into c++ development to get independent from things like this, as soon you are able to build your gui elements in c++ you easily can port all the dsp stuff from FS into c++
on the other hand if you want to stay with graphical programming and want to use another one then FS i think max is the way, the business already started there and ableton is the biggest on the market anyway

well, i don't like non independent platforms. maybe ableton is great platform, but i would rather prefer a product which will carry my full "creative sign" and will be aimed to any possible platform. that's why i never tried making patches or "packs". vst\standalone formats are the best targets for me. i believe after the first cross platform system will be launched, people will run in to it (whatever it will be, fs or se), as they won't miss the opportunity to make their own first cross platform project, if only to experience the feel of "Ta Daaaaa! I did it! my first cross platform project ever!!", as That has a very strong positive psychological effect on any developer. only then, the real fun will start. and unfortunately, it's bigger that us

Is there still hope from users? Not FOR Users but FROM users?
Even Trog's last message is from January, maybe he left and also started C++ courses...
If so then this is a clear message that people are not waiting any longer hoping, but taking an other road...
a few things go thru my mind now, why we don't hear a single thing about any ideas or progress on requested/promised implementations:
1. the product is dead
2. the product is selling better on other points (robotics, automation etc)
3. the vst market is dead or saturated
4. arrogance
5. ignorance

Seems that the only zombie here is synthmaker... Is alive but smells like death flesh.
