VST plugin or host loses 'focus'

Difficult question to ask, and searching FS forum was not helpful.

I know I've read discussion of this, but now that I need info I can't find it

Here's the issue ...

I have created a VST that outputs MIDI data [a controller]. I have several people testing this on 64-bit platform using a '32 to 64 bridge'. [note: I use 32bit and cannot test any of this directly].

From one of my tester, he states:
32 bit / 64 bit related problems:
plugin is 32 bit and a bridged process. As such it is a floating window
when activated while Reaper64 becomes de-activated. So if the plugin gets mouse
input then REAPER64 processes them only when it is re-activated.

This is confusing to me. I don't know if this is my programming issue, or possibly a setting in Reaper ?!?!

I'm getting more info, but thought I'd just post this as a start to hear from other's here.

It's even harder when I can test directly to see what is happening. All I have is what others tell me [sometimes the language is a barrier].

ideas ?? heard similar issues ??

Thanks

It's probably about how reaper should behave when using non-reaper windows. For example - if you have reaper working in the background, and switched to some other app - then reaper becomes (by default) inactive (music stops), until you get back to it. It's probably what the bridge is like - a separate app so to speak.

But this feature should be switchable in reaper. Go to Options // Audio and maybe // Plugins (/VST?).

I think your testerrr (find another name  there is only one tester  ) can send you their reaper settings file, so you can check it out on your machine.
