Synth built around Martin's Spread Partials oscs

Another installment in the
Skematic series

, this time with the very FM-sounding Spread Partials oscillators that Martin posted a couple of years ago. For those unfamiliar, this single bit of code produces sounds almost indistinguishable from simple two-op FM (sans feedback) - a 'spread' of 1.00 sounds like a Modulator/Carrier Ratio of 1:1, a spread of 2.00 sounds like FM Ratio 2:1, and so on. Great for FM-like sounds with very simple controls - just select a spread, set the Timbre for how bright you want it, and sweep the Timbre with an envelope and/or mod it with an LFO. Ingenious, Martin! (as always

Four oscillators provided, each with Transpose, Keytrack for Timbre and Level, and stereo pan. Three with Detune.

Replaced schematic - some presets got saved with inharmonic Spreads.

This is splendid!
I’ve been away for a few days so only just got to try it.
I’m so glad that someone got around to using this weird and wonderful oscillator that Martin invented. And this certainly does it proud, and the presets give a decent hint of what’s possible.
To my ears the type of sound produced is unique and, although you could
relate it to other techniques like FM, none fit perfectly with what I hear. That makes it rather special and your great design encourages exploration.
Cheers

Here are all the
Skematic... synths in a single Zip -
including a new one - SkematicWS :

which is similar to
SkematicSP, but uses the Spread Partials' predecessor, Martin's WaveShape osc, which seamlessly morphs sine to a saw-like shape.
SkematicWS has two of these per 'osc' so can produce pulse waves also and has a Saw/Pulse crossfader. Though the SP osc can also produce this saw-like shape, it has no phase input, so can't do pulse and can't do 'FM' (phase modulation). With
SkematicWS, osc 1 can FM 2, 2 can FM 3 and 3 can FM 4. Includes a few simple 'demo' style presets.
