Continuous Knob and/or Ribbon, Sin / Cos Pot Needed

Postby aronb » Sun Feb 23, 2014 9:28 am

Hi,

Is there a knob that rotates 360 degrees and outputs quadrature like a Quadrature Rotary Encoder? I.E. Channel A leads Channel B clock transitions when turned one direction and Channel B leads Channel A clock transitions when turned the other. And of course be able to set the resolution to say 2 to 3600 "clock transitions"

I have looked high and low here and on the interweb and have found nothing related to this and Flowstone :?

This same thing could be applied to a ribbon type (not the same as) but similar to a ribbon in that as you move the mouse cursor over the "ribbon" in one direction (with the left mouse button held done) the count clocks one way (A leads B) and vise versa - again with selectable resolution.

I guess this is also similar to a 10 turn (knob) potentiometer as well. You could make a N Turn pot / knob or ribbon too. 8-)

I need more resolution for one project (10 turn pot would work).

But the other project I am creating a Sin / Cos potentiometer, and could build one out of a Quadrature Encoder which may be more universal - but heck maybe a Sin / Cos pot AND a Quad Encoder... More tools in the toolbox ! ! ! !

Thanks for any help and info,

Aron

BTW the one called jogwheel requires you to move the mouse in a circle to rotate it ;)

wow the the jogwheel is great! thx for sharing this jay!

about the first one, i think this coud be done bit easier too..

here is some scetch i did for something similar..

it produces up triggers and down triggers which triggers a counter but they could trigger anything else too
if you need left right triggers just do the same for the drag x axis instead of the y axis

you can use the trigger divider and the counter stepsize for finetuning, also min and max values can be set inside the counter

maybe it helps too

aye thats cool nubeat7! i was thinking that the first one was a bit over complex myself!

here is another one from the dusty old vaults, this one allows you to set the number of turns from within the properties panel :)
