Hello,
I have a phidget 8/8/8 board and am using Flowstone 2 with the PhIK 8/8/8 Component as attached.

I am reading several sensors, linear and load cell and every device is outputting 1000 unit (0 to 999).

My question is what determines the resolution of 1000 units?

Is there another way to increase number of units and hence the resolution?

The resolution is set by the Phidgets board design. It uses 10 bit converters so you get a max of 1024 steps.

If you need more resolution you will need a different board, some of the other supported boards like the LabJack U3 has 12 bit (4096 steps), and the Measurement Computing USB-1608FS has 16 Bit (65536).

One other cost effective solution is to use an audio interface as many of these are 24bit 96Khz and are relatively cheap. Anything with a direct sound or ASIO driver will work. Things like the Tascam US1641 work well.

I have another question,

Is it possible to run multiple USB DAQs (say Lab Jack) from one PC and one USB cable? If so, which 12 and 16bit versions are compatible with Flowstone?

I know that if the DAQ is powered solely by USB then you have to be careful that the number of sensors do not exceed the power available.

Alternatively we could consider ethernet connection, but I am after something that has(a) relatively good accuracy (b) is cheap (c) speaks easily with Flowstone components, I'm a beginner (d) is scaleable.

The max power from a single USB port is 0.5A so I'm sure you will be able to run at least two from a single USB socket. You will need some form of hub of course.
