Hi fellow flowstoners!

I’m well under way building a website
http://www.flowstoners.com

I had the idea from Tulamide; to have an outlet for high quality community projects (under his excellent brand name “Flowcom”).

In addition I have an area for my own amateur hobby-grade stuff under the Quilcom name.

The purpose of the site is to promote interest in Flowstone by providing free VST and VSTi plugins made with Flowstone and in this way hopefully lead to a few folk buying a license and thereby supporting continued development of Flowstone. I don’t intend to post the schematics – they have to come to the FS forum if they want those. Nor do I offer this as a support or resource site; we have the Guru site and this forum for that purpose.

At some point I will register with KVR and hope to send details and news to further promote the Flowstone name.
I’m funding this myself, as an extension to my FS hobby (addiction) and I don’t intend or expect to make any money from it (there is a PayPal donate button just in case!).

This is my first venture into making a website and it was a steep learning curve but a fascinating one, I must say. I’ve deliberately avoided all the distracting flashy stuff you get on websites these days and just concentrated on functionality. I hope you like it and approve. I’m open to constructive suggestions but I don’t intend to do large rebuilds at this stage.

At the moment I’m slowly uploading my Quilcom stuff and there’s quite a lot of it already there now.

What I would like from you guys, who offer plugins made with Synthmaker or Flowstone, is to provide links to your sites for my Links area. Only if you want to of course. Please post your details here or PM me with your URL and any descriptive words and images you would like alongside the links. Your stuff doesn’t have to be free; I just want visitors to be inspired by some of what’s possible with FS.

Cheers

Nice Spogg.

I like the FlowStone graphics base for the site. 8-)

BTW ... what software are you using to design the website?

thx

Looking good so far! If/when I get something back up myself, I'll definitely send a link your way.

I love it!

A was so afraid of web 1.0 with much orange
The clear and soothing design is wonderful. Just details cought my eye:
- The copyright notice should either be removed or have a correct content
- "Flowstoners" / "stuff made with FLOWSTONE" should be a nice logo and using the Flowstone logo for the word "Flowstone"
- About: When I select this option I expect to read about the site. But I don't expect to read it in a picture showing a Flowstone module. I'm afraid not many people will stay and read, because they are confused. Instead, make it a text like everywhere else, with smaller images inserted for examples, if you wish.

Can't wait to see this filled with plugins!

WOW, I love it also. It's coming together very nicely. For us without sights of our own or who us Fl Studio and can not create vst's how would you like us to proceed (submit stuff)? Also would you like to critique vst's before being submitted?

Can't wait to see it mature to it's full potential. Great work Spoog!

Later then, BobF.....

my point of view and I hope constructive law considerations:
you have to write the legalities ownership for the trademark, logo, etc.
you have to specify if you are or not affiliated with them,
Are you entitled to use the name FlowStone or other DspRobotics name?

Hi guys
Many thanks for the feedback so far.

BTW ... what software are you using to design the website?
I'm using Wordpress running the "Responsive" theme. Hosting is on 1&1.

- The copyright notice should either be removed or have a correct content

I updated the theme and this overwrites the copyright notice. Corrected it now.

- "Flowstoners" / "stuff made with FLOWSTONE" should be a nice logo and using the Flowstone logo for the word "Flowstone"
I did think about this but I wanted to avoid giving the impression that this site is affiliated. Also I would probably have to get permission from DSPR. And, as you all know, my graphic design capabilities are, shall we say, rather limited

- About: When I select this option I expect to read about the site. But I don't expect to read it in a picture showing a Flowstone module. I agree and I've changed this and the wording a bit. Originally I dreamt up an idea to use FS for the text for all pages and even made buttons in FS but it was too cumbersome to edit. Now the style is consistent for the whole site.

For us without sights of our own or who us Fl Studio and can not create vst's how would you like us to proceed (submit stuff)? Also would you like to critique vst's before being submitted?

I've agonised over this and I knew it would be asked :D I think that "finished" stuff rather than beta experimental is the way to go. I've been thinking about having a separate area for individual's work and keeping the Flowcom area for the top-end group-created stuff like the convolver, rather than mixing it up under one heading. I'm happy to do the VST export and testing before upload. So, if anyone wants their stuff uploaded please PM me and if anyone wants to nominate stuff to be uploaded, as long as the author agrees, then I'll oblige. I don't yet have 3.09 so if that crops up someone else may have to help...

Scary stuff to me but I appreciate these points. As mentioned above, I didn't want to use any logos from DSPR. I would have thought that a link to a website shouldn't cause any issues but I have no background in web publishing law. Maybe some kind soul could send me some standard text and I'll include it on the About page or wherever it ought to appear...

Any other comments and suggestions will be welcomed from my fellow flowstoners!

Cheers

Just a thought, if you're looking for stuff to add:

A page with links to the modules and possibly other projects uploaded to the forum might be handy... maybe just a page with links to the posts with the actual file(s). I've noticed there's a lot of stuff hidden pages back in a thread, that would give new users a place to find everything, and still bring them here to the author's original post for any important info.

Of course, that would also be a lot of work, so I can understand if you don't want to tackle something like that... but then, you were crazy/ambitious enough to compile the "Synthmaker Greatest Hits" thread (or at least most of it)... :)

This is an interesting idea. My basic mission is to get visitors to visit the Flowstone site so any FS links I provide are to the DSPR home page. From there they can look around, find the forum and maybe download a free trial and so on.
Your suggestion would mean having an area which kind of catalogues stuff on the forum, if I understand you correctly. As you say, this would be a major undertaking but would provide a resource for flowstoners themselves, which would be an expansion of my mission.
I'm going to consider this more but not prioritise it at the moment. However if someone else has some spare time (i.e. nobody) and would like to compile a list of links with a brief description of each one, then I would be happy to upload it and maybe maintain it...

I see no hands raised

Cheers

Malc is just a human being, not an evil faceless company. I'd say, a simple email telling what you do and why, combined with a request to use the Flowstone logo to point to this site should give enlightenment.

When I'm done with my current work, I would be willing to create a logo for flowstoners.com, and I could render a version of the Flowcom logo as well. Just if you would like to.
