Home Security Application
Besides home automation, given FlowStone’s I/O capability and low computing overhead, you could make one heck-of-a home security system with an old PC and some X-10 modules. Besides doing all the usual door and window checking, it could also have some built-in redundancy to avoid false alarms from pets. It could look for motion changes with cameras and send images to the owner via email or SMS. It could switch lights on and off for a “lived-in” appearance.
Wow, that just gave me some cool ideas…

Re: X10 Home Automation
X10 is a protocol for communication among electronic devices used for home automation (domotics). It primarily uses power line wiring for signaling and control, where the signals involve brief radio frequency bursts representing digital information. A wireless radio based protocol transport is also defined.
