wow, seems you spent a lot of effort into this, looks way to complicated for me :) , why not taking the coordinates from the view rectangle to have a resizable right triangle which you can mirror horizontally and vertically, like this you get all possible variations and never need to take care about any values out of range...

you are welcome tiffy, just when i saw your schematic i thought there must be an easier way :) , but depending on the situation you draw a triangle and the input parameters your version could be needful too, you know me, i like it clean and simple, but its not always the best, there are always different ways for a solution and it depends on the bigger picture which one fits best

for example as you could see there should be margin to show the whole line on the horizontal and vertical sides of the triangle and not just the half of the line which isn't included in my design and would make it more complex..
