The Quilcom Faranear: Make your music sound far out!
Hello!
The Quilcom Faranear is a single purpose effect, with only one knob.
The idea is to make a band sound like it’s playing some adjustable distance away, in an enclosed area.
I made a very short demo for YouTube:

It seems to sound ok on headphones and speakers.
It’s not simply volume control and filters, although that’s part of the processing. In addition there is stereo width, environmental reflections, Haas effect and transient blurring/reverb. The modules’ settings are all derived from the Closeness knob, and their ranges are linked to the position of the knob. This makes much use of rational mapping, including tulamide’s quadratic one for the knob itself (thank you tulamide).
I do realise that it’s kind of a novelty effect, but you never know, it might be a solution you’ll want sometime.

Comments always welcome.
