The Quilcom STAMP

Hello (again!).

This is an experimental saturation/distortion plugin based on a simple idea I had which I wanted to hear.

Tube saturation is notoriously asymmetrical and this produces a signal which contains added even harmonics. My idea was to make a system which uses two asymmetrical saturations which work in opposite polarities and pass them out to the left and right channels to create a stereo effect from a mono input (typically a guitar).

Nice!
Haven't tested it on my main PC, but stereo effect is clearly heard even on the laptop i'm using now...

Very good and interesting sound !
I feel like there's some magic, as i try a lot of complex thing to end up with bad and unnatural sound..

But you would maybe consider up-sampling or some anti aliasing filter.
In the example there's almost no aliasing but it's because the synth have already some low pass.

The 4X upsampling from Martin Vicaneck would almost avoid any aliasing in any situation, (the harmonics doesn't go to much more than 2 octave)

UPDATE: If you want to use a wideband signal, like from a synth as opposed to a guitar, I’ve made plugins which use a DSP technique by Maik Menz and Martin Vicanek to reduce aliasing at high frequencies. This performs like 4x oversampling but does use more CPU.
