MSEG addt'nl stages before Sustain?

Postby k brown » Sat May 30, 2020 10:24 pm

Anyone ever do an envelope like this? I've always found it odd that the stock one only allows additional stages after Sustain. Most musically useful sounds have much more complex shapes before the sustain of a note. Spogg did a multistage-before-sustain for the RazorBlade prototype, but I'm referring to a graphical style one like the toolbox MSEG, only one that allows adding stages before or after the Sustain.

There are several examples of egs with multi-stages before sustain: Yamaha DX7, Ensoniq SQ-80, Prophet VS, but I don't think I've heard of one with multiple after. Maybe some soft-synths.

The stock MSEG can do what you want. It’s really versatile in fact.

This kinda question has arisen before, so I made a schematic with some notes for you and others.

Cheers

Wow, if it does, it sure isn't self-explanitory - I'll attend your class and learn!
