Re: OBDII Communications project
Edit - 1/4/15
After uninstalling and re-installing my mini USB bluetooth adapter on my laptop, I tried the schematic below and it does not work for some reason. I tried the previous version and it worked. i am leaving this non-working version here for now while I locate the issue and will update later.
Edit 1/4/15 10:30pm
Found issue, while revising layout, forgot to connect back the trigger to the Com port "Send" command. Revised/corrected schematic listed below. Also revised the timer/counter to allow continuous up count of sent PID commands so Speed can be updated faster.
Update - New version
Changes:
1) Combined Configure and Initialization windows.
2) Removed Bluetooth window.
3) Expanded size of display.
4) Added back in graphing with selection of individual parameters to be graphed.
5) Changed timing system for polling.
6) Added parameter units to labels in Display window.
7) corrected calculations for Oxygen sensor readings (divided by 200).
Unfortunately something happened to my bluetooth on my laptop and was not able to connect to OBDII adapter to test out (happened after a system update). Fixed, see above.

Re: OBDII Communications project
Playing around with Knobman software - after scouring the internet looking for tutorials on gauges and speedometers created in knobman and other graphics programs, I learned a few simple techniques and was able to create this simple speedometer. I want to create a set of gauges for the OBDII tool. Need to work on shading and lighting effects more.

Another type of speedometer created with Knobman and Skinman software.
If you are interested in how these knobs are put together, you can download the knob file at the knobman website gallery.

Re: OBDII Communications project
Update 2/15/15
A few minor additions:
1) Added a "None" category to the Parameter Menu to allow fewer parameters to be monitored at any one time and thus speed up the refreshing/poll response rate of returned values
2) Added a scrolling popup Help/Info window
3) Added a start up screen with graphics/logo. Fades to Initial Configuration Window
4) Added new Speed and RPM graphic displays
Unfortunately with added graphics, the schematic is too large to post.
