Any word on a 64 bit version ?
Re: Any word on a 64 bit version ?
With my limited experience, I'm not sure how EXE created with FS-32 are handled on 64-bit systems.
I have only made VST plug-ins that others have tested.
It seems the top complaint [of the 2], where is the 64-bit version. Apparently 'bridging' a 32-bit is a major issue for many.
The other request, obviously, is for a MAC version.
I'm a one-man show [with incredible support and help from those on this forum]. I have no aspirations to move to a different programming environment for many reasons. FS has made it feasible for me to create something in a rather short development time. With other languages I'd be happy to get the 'Hello World' module working bug free
Regardless of my personal opinion that many people have 64-bit systems NOT because they need to ... but that is what the market-driving mechanism has forced onto the consumer. My Ma does NOT need her 64-bit OS to surf the Web. Meanwhile, I do major audio production on my archaic WinXP-32.
I do know that the day will come when I'm too build a new computer, and would most likely join the 64-bit crowd. Personally, I dread the several months it takes me to re-install the gamut of software I enjoy or need.
Whatever is to be, I currently share the similar experience of my releases being ignored until I can deliver a 64-bit version.
Something I did wonder ... should that day come ... would we need to be programming FROM a 64-bit system in order to create said format ? Just wondered
Additional thought ... I would guess that the Dev team for FS would be rather tight-lipped to even hint at a 64-bit version, as they would be inundated with WHEN the release date !

Re: Any word on a 64 bit version ?
64bit is an must
MAC or even other outputs as VST, like AU etcetera is a must
a WAV system which support all markers settable in a wav file like with Wavelab (loop markers, start markers) is a must, not that SFZ shit because i want to be able te have containers just like in NI KONTAKT, and not that my wav files are exposed directly
Personally i do not use any vst or vsti which has no 64bit support or MAC support, because in the past i had to much trouble with Synthmakers vst/vsti's in my DAW. So i instantly know it is written in C or C++ or any language except SM or Flowstone
at least when devs say, yes we are working on these issues, but we cannot yet estimate a Beta version, everyone is happe and will wait some longer.
Else learn C++...... there a also tools available to creat GUI for C++ projects
But maybe in the end it could be a better choice for the devs to have kept SM alive, and extend that with Ruby-64bit-latest VST/AU and others for all audio people. And leave Flostone for all Robotic and industrial appliances so Flowstone keeps to be afforable for those people and schools. And SM maybe a bit more expensive but then give the audio people the options they want.
I don't know how the reality is exactly but on the forum 95% of the topics are audio related. So it looks like the SM bussiness is bigger than the Flowstone....

In a few days I should be able to test FS apps on 64bit systems too.

on the current 3.04 version, they are handled very good. I develop with flowston using 64bit machine for long time. every time i finish a project, i export it in both formats, vst+exe. i have to point out that both are very stable, unless you did something wrong\ you used some bad ruby module\you have muchas graphics and redraws in your project.
This version is very good. no stability issues at most of the time.

Re: Any word on a 64 bit version ?
Hi yeah ive stayed out of the old 64 bit argument for a while as FS is only a distraction for me and will never be anything more! a hobby if you will.
I cant get a single SM or FS plugin to load in cubase 7 64bit, hell they dont even pass the vst scan without completely crashing cubase. Sonar x3 64bit can be picky about the 32bit plugins it can handle also and i have found that it is ok with 32bit instruments but kind of hates effects, Reaper 64 seams ok with most things sofar but then i could be wrong as i dont use it myself, my 2 engineers do though and have not said anything to me! the rest of the daw's i use are 32bit.
at home i have 8 independant rigs of various hardware specs and they all seem to be pretty uniform in the problems with 32bit plugins within 64bit enviroments!
my two guys in the studio have are pretty free to buy whatever plugins they feel neccessary for the business as long as they are not 32bit! we no longer buy from 32bit only developers, whitch is a massive pity as it excludes all of you guys and a few other good developers that i myself like! it just cost us too much time and effort to get everything working and in a busy studio - time is money!
a funny thing though, in my experience Synthedit 32bit plugins seem less of a problem in my 64bit systems! just saying!
as for the memory thing with 32bit v 64bit, is that not more of an issue to project sizes within daw software and the amount of apps and plugins that can be run?
regards

Re: Any word on a 64 bit version ?
FS VST plugins works well in 64 bit unless you load it in the 32bit host. 64 is required for audio ATM, not required in terms of compatiblity but for global share of products even free ones.
Dev's said 64 bit was to do. I expect that, i don't renew my license until they said "Hi, im working on the release of a 64bit beta".
I don't ask a full super mega thing, just starting this shit.

Just to get a better understand ...
When you say FS-VST's are working well on 64-bit systems ... are you using 'J-Bridge' for this ???
