Nope. I´ve been working on and off on my app.... time´s been scarce lately. I hope I can get some time for coding soon, but with the kids and their habit of asking for food and clothes....

Hi Tarlz

Great to see you back m8! nope he wasnt kidding, he is a rather serious chap!

what he was meaning though is they seem to work better with jbridge rather than say cubases vst bridge, (more responsive) as for the sound difference i have not noticed it on any of the plugins ive used since installing jbridge myself, but then, A. ive been busy and not used much since jbridging the plugins and B. I am not a award winning, internationally renouned DJ and producer as he is! maybe he has better ears than me!

all i know is everything that did not work before, now does, under jbridge!

it is a shame the big boys at Steinberg cant get this right whilst the author of jbridge can! but then i have come to expect nothing more over the many years of using cubase!

Actually in the market for a new DAW, had a good time with Logic.
And having a good time kicking it oldskool with Renoise.
But not so shure about Reaper and Ableton. Repear is a bit on the non audio side.
And Ableton has a severe bad vibe to it, too much softing up "hate to set the attack on samples I mostly selected on that basis" and the bandlimitting sounds too overdone. Never mind the mixer it blows..

Any good daws that need evaluating?

Hi MEGA,

I've recently switched over to REAPER on the PC.

My all time favorite sequencer was NOTATOR for the Atari-STe. However .. it couldn't do audio :o

I think the main question to ask, is what type of production work do you want to do ?

There are many 'flavors' of DAW's out there, for sure.

I have several [some now as older versions], like: Sonar, Samplitude, Adobe Audition3, Cubase5, and for mastering
was WaveLAB.

They all have strengths ... but honestly, for flexibility, REAPER has a lot going for it ... at least for the main work I do as a Mastering Engineer. I'm still called on to do mixing from time to time, and have from Reaper to handle it well.

Yes ... took me a bit to get familial with it ... lots of customization can be done. What I really like is the routing and EFX bin. The other positive ... it was like $60 for the commercial license. My 'upgrades' for the other DAW's was double that.

But like mentioned ... it's really about the style of the DAW. I do not do any looping to make tracks [generally], so I'm not needing a 'pattern-base' design.

Maybe best to grab a demo and take some time to get a feel for them.

Nubeat: I own a licence for energy XT (dead cheap), had it on my laptop and there's a lot of things to like, it's got a nice sampler. Made this with it: http://schlukhash.nl/index.php/componen ... ownload/44 (PCM is a bit slow)
Havn't tried it since fall two years ago, back then it was low on editting capabilities on the sampler. But it's possible and fast to make a song in it. And it sounds great!

RJ: I'm evaluating reaper, and it sounds awesome too. Excelent routing capabilities. But when I get to Acid style sample editing I get annoyed with it. Just finding little things like undo the snapping, or deep editing audio. Makes me want to exit.

Remember in school whenever we heard like yea made this song in Fruity Loops we used to snicker a bit, but maybe it's not that bad after all?

Don't be naive guys, there will NEVER be a 64bit support, never ever.

The developers are pulling us by the nose for years, it is still the same song about some 64bit development.

But there is no 64bit development, wake up guys, this framework is dead, the updates are coming just to keep your money flowing

There is no other choice but to reach this conclusion. Sadly,as time pass by, the developer's conduct implies on that direction.Unlike the days of synthmaker, they are even not communicative anymore, and probably it is not by accident. The topic is remained vague forever. i still believe they are working on it, but they have a huge attitude problem.
