tremolo = amplitude/gain modulation
vibrato = frequency/pitch modulation

I am not overly familiar with side-chain,
but basically-
it means you use an audio input to control dynamics parameters.
Within FS, you will be free not to compromise a stereo signal,
but if you make a plug, one of the ins will have to be the control signal.
This probably means it will be mono?
It is not tremolo or vibrato usually,
most commonly it's used to duck,
but I can't see why you couldn't boost dynamically too.
Depending on the control signal, the audio will become louder and softer,
it's most commonly a feature in compressors.
VST3 fx have a dedicated sidechain input, in FS we are 2.4 though.
Hope that helps define it.
An envelope follower or RMS could be a nice unit to experiment with this,
it will give you an amplitude reading from the signal,
instead of bipolar AC audio.

You can for sure make a Sidechain compressor or limiter, but you have to route manually the channel output to your FX inside the DAW.

Or another way is to use midi events to duck that way you can process a stereo signal

For tremolo - just multiply the signal by oscillators output - either directly (bipolar modulation) or scaled to positive range (unipolar; then it will be typical gain modulator). Use sine oscillator to do this if you wish to have ordinary tremolo effect.
You can also modulate various parameters of a filter applied to your signal. (frequency, depth if it's a peak filter, resonance if it has continuous resonance control).

And you can search on synthmaker forum for oscilloscope oscilloscope module made by cyto (cytoscope or something like that) - it's a pretty cool unit that tells you what is happening with your signals.
