Directsound Desactivated
Hi, sometimes some executables made with Flowstone do not work on some PCs because of directsound failure.
SynthMaker offers the customer the abilitie to choose different options (like asio4all if it is installed) by adding it in the executable, but Flowstone does not. Is it possible to bypass this issue ?
Thanks

Re: Directsound Desactivated
What's the error message?
I have had recent problems on Win 7, turns out nothing to do with FlowStone.
Basically Windows 7 disables the Direct Sound if no mic is physically plugged in, try plugging a mic in and see if it solves your problem?

Re: Directsound Desactivated
Thanks a lot. It works when plugging a microphone (on Windows seven).
But it is not an easy and elegant method.
I am a teacher and I don't know the configuration of pCs where the executable is running. Often, the students have not the administrator rights and even access to configuration panel. Asking them to plug a micro just to active directsound is a bit tricky. Adding a choice menu (as it is done in synthmaker) and asking the classroom administrator to install asio4all seems to be more efficient. Or is there perhaps a software solution in flowstone itself ?
Here the message: "Direct sound could not be started. The most likely reason for this is that you have an application running using ASIO. To solve the problem, close the application using ASIO or change it so that it uses direct sound instead."
Thanks again. (At least plugging a microphone is a solution...)

Re: Directsound Desactivated
Yes this is the same issue I had, unfortunately it is windows that won't start Direct Sound without a physical input on Win 7 so the is no audio clock and DS won't work without this.
So there isn't really anything FlowStone can do. ASIO4All creates it's own internal clock and then feeds this into the DS driver hence why this may work.

Re: Directsound Desactivated
Thanks "DSP".
I am a newbie with Flowstone, but I have made some project with Synthmaker which is quite the same product, but music oriented. When creating the final executable, synthmaker is proposing the option to add a special menu within.
It is an "audio" and "midi" menu. So the customer can choose his drivers on his PC. Perhaps, this option will be available in the new version of Flowstone. Is there a way to do it with components ?
Thanks

Re: Directsound Desactivated
Yes this feature was upgraded in FlowStone so you can make your own menus and have more control.
There is a module called 'Audio Selector' that gives you a drop down menu will show all of the active devices available for DS or ASIO.
Here's a working Project:

Same goes for the Zoom, in FlowStone it is an option.
Here's a EXE zoom example:

Re: Directsound Desactivated
Thanks! I recently "upgraded" to Win 7, and was having a heck of a time figuring out why Direct Sound wasn't working properly. You save me a big headache with a simple solution to a hard to find problem. Thanks again!
