Portable Flowstone?

Postby cubician » Thu Sep 04, 2014 1:50 am

I am trying to install FlowStone to my flashdrive, and it seems successful. It runs fine. However, when the program initially opens, it has about 4
The install folder could not be found. Try re-installing the software.
pop-up window.

The window I can deal with, but the real problem is that none of the modules or packs installed show up. I think that the popup does have something to do with it though.

I saw an article on the internet describing how to use a virtual machine and other software to create a portable app package for FS 3.0 but I'm not really up for that.

What would I do to inform FlowStone that it IS installed to the folder it's in and make the modules/packs showing up (without VMWare and stuff)?

Thanks.

I played a bit with this too. My aim was to use Flowstone at work :) I never made it fully portable, so i'm also motivated to find a good solution.

I could make it run if i copied the flowstone folder to this path (the one the installer also uses)
C:\Program Files (x86)\DSPRobotics

The modules needs to be in this folder. I could not make them show up any other way.
C:\Users\(name of windows profile)\AppData\Roaming\FlowStone\Modules

In the end, it was much easier to install Flowstone normally, and then just have my modules and stuff on a stick.

If you can get permission from the developer to do this ?, i can do this for you.

It is already written by me somewhere on the forum on how to do this in approx 12 steps

just search on portable you'll find it.

- you need a virtual pc installed wich is running windows
- install Cameyo on this virtual windows (search google for Cameyo)
- Let cameyo observe what is happening while you install Flowstone
- Let cameyo creat the portable package for you
- copy the cameyo package on your usb stick
- voila you're ready
