sure, but it shouldn't result in any playstart offsets, i mean when i press play everything should start playing at the same time! independent on any buffers...
tulamide wrote:Just tested it. 120bpm, 4 quarter notes, Asio4all @13ms
ticker play without a sequence = 500ms stable.
ticker play with a sequence playing = a different value each time I try (but that value stays stable while playing). Lowest was 6 ms, highest somewhere at 380ms.
are you sure you doing the test right? you need to go to barstart and press play on your host! then both should start at the same time and you should get 500ms at 120 bpm if one of both is offset it show the offset (~150 in cubase) then for short time the difference to 500ms and then the offset again - it shows always the time from one to the next trigger..
in cubase when i press play for the first time after opening cubase the offset is a bit shorter but when stop it and start the test again its stable but it cannot be a difference between 6 and 380....

you really think reaper offers the same what cubase offers, i don't think so... anyway testing vsts in cubase is essential if you want to share or sell vsts, and thats why you have cheap versions or demoversions - i only have fl demo just to test vsts on it.. anyway my fav host is renoise 65€

That's what's to be expected. I was only guessing here that the offset could be the latency from the DAW (the latency used to sync plugins). But again, it's just a guess.Nubeat7 wrote:sure, but it shouldn't result in any playstart offsets, i mean when i press play everything should start playing at the same time! independent on any buffers...
Yes, I'm sure. The offset differs. It shows a different value each time I hit play in Reaper as documented in the last post. It was after having added another track with a virtual instrument that the offset was shown in the 300ths.tulamide wrote:are you sure you doing the test right? you need to go to barstart and press play on your host! then both should start at the same time and you should get 500ms at 120 bpm if one of both is offset it show the offset (~150 in cubase) then for short time the difference to 500ms and then the offset again - it shows always the time from one to the next trigger..
I also have a FL demo, and I have a few musician friends, all working with different DAWs (Ableton, Cubase). I used to own Cubase for almost 15 years (and saw its price rising...). I can say for sure that Reaper keeps up with Cubase. And the track routing possibilities alone are a feature, Cubase can't compete with. I think you underestimate Reaper. And Renoise is cool when you come from the tracker scene. But I was always the music-sheet-guy, piano roll is already a compromise for me So, I can't really enjoy both, FL and Renoise. Ableton Live is a really cool thing! I would love to work with the full version, but 350€ is just too much for me.Nubeat7 wrote:you really think reaper offers the same what cubase offers, i don't think so... anyway testing vsts in cubase is essential if you want to share or sell vsts, and thats why you have cheap versions or demoversions - i only have fl demo just to test vsts on it.. anyway my fav host is renoise 65€

Re: different starttime for host sequence and ticker bug!?
i also tested it in reaper and it has a offset from 11 ms in my case with asio 4 you driver, and it is stable 11ms.
it only can differ if you start at different positions in the sequence because the ticker starts with play and the sequence on the actual position, if the position is not a bar or beatstart you get a different offset...
i just don't know what starts first the ticker or the sequence but i would bet also the ticker!?
anyway i will report this at FS support..
