SampleScience wrote:Well, it's a business, and there's indeed a lot of work if their market it well, I don't know if they do it well for plugins though. I have a sample library that they sell on one of their site and they do bring sales and I get my money.
In any case, I'm not interested in defending them here anyways...
On a serious note, I am selling game music in a game asset store. Everything is in my control. I decide what to sell, at which price, how many promotional activities I take part in and how often. I decide the maximum percentage off I'm willing to give on special sales. I could even use Google Analytics, if I wanted to. Basically, I have the last word in everything they do with my assets.
Their marketing includes sales, special sales, flash sales, bundles (which is bundles of items from different sellers, for example a spritesheet, a jump'n'run template, sounds and game music, or, another example, game music from different sellers that all fit into a certain mood), press contacts, listings, etc. If I provide fancy graphics they make use of them for marketing. They even give me options to promote myself, if I'm up to it. I can generate redeem codes at any time for whatever use I see. Everything keeps my copyright, of course, and is promoted in my name not theirs.
I'm in full control.
I get 70%.

For samples the usual cut is 50/50, although some distributors give more (like SamplePilot who gives 70%). But there's more to it than the shares, the distro must drive traffic and sales to its site. Very few are doing a good job at it, 123Creative are good at it though as well as Sampleism (where you can also sell plugins & softwares).

Just tried your demos NuBeat, I'm really impressed by Dizztroy and Repeat-X. They sound really good and are cool to play with. Good work!

I like the concept of Bondage, but somehow I have trouble with the demo. Is the GUI fixed for demo purpose? I can't seem to be able to move the cables or turn any knobs.
Repeat-X is highly addictive, I'll probably end up buying it, it's just so much fun and when thought out.

no its not fixed, but you need to wire a signalchain from the input to the output, (right mouseclick on the red jacks hold and leave on a blue jack) and the knobs should work..
which DAW are you using?
