Hello all,

Don'the know if anyone is taking on any NEW synths, but I would really like to see a nice Serge modular system if anyone's is up to it ?

Some really nice work so far keep it going and I am sure when Spogg returns things will pick up again.

Thanks and take care, BobF.....

What kind of filters exactly do you have in mind?

I looked into doing a small Serge some time ago, too many of the modules I couldn't quite get my head around, and info in the net was a bit sketchy. Also, I don't plan on doing any new stuff after the end of the month (my gallery's re-opening and I'll have to get back to painting full-time).

-Hello martin;
Here's the list of the Xpander's rather unusual filter states (from the Wikipedia page):

I'm not entirely sure I understand what you're asking, but I put the Bundle out there for all to do with what they like.

Not read page one for a while ...

I think your implementation is capable of reproducing the 80's filter envelope - though maybe you shouldn't pay too much attention to what my age-addled brain thinks.

So can someone please check (and feel free to laugh derisively at) my schoolboy maths (I'm English - there's definitely more than one math!) - but:

(taking IL as a positive value to save confusion [mine], and 10V as full scale)

Filter Cutoff(s) Fc = Fc - IL

Envelope Depth = IL + AL

Sustain Level = (10x) IL/Depth

(Not sure what 0/0 does to SM - maybe worth looking out for?)

Thanks for the Putnie_os update - much more to my taste!

Yamaha liked to call their AM RingMod, too (and Phase Mod FM ...), so AD envelope aside, the additional LFO serves very nicely - thank you!

Turns out I didn't include eXpando in the Bundle, so here it is -with DAW automation compatibility.

Broadly an Oberheim Xpander emulation, but:

Filters incomplete and not very accurately emulated.
No Tracking Generators (couldn't figure out how).
Just the Voice, no splits, layers, six separate outputs etc.

Wow! This topic has really progressed while I was away.

I’ve read all the posts and it’s left me a bit overwhelmed at what I might be able to contribute at this point. Just picking on a few things I read…

Cross-host fxp and fxb presets: I’m convinced that I read somewhere the format was unique to the host/plugin but I accept I got this wrong, so sorry for any confusion. It’s just unique to the plugin.

Share my wave sequencing etc.: Yes of course. Anyone can use any of my work however they wish, even to make their fame and fortune!

Naming preset parameters: This is indeed a bit of a slog but well worth doing if you like one or more of Mr Brown’s synths. I should mention another aspect of the FS preset system which I originally found confusing. If you don’t have unique names the parameters seem to be addressed in the order in which they were added to the schematic and this makes the preset system within FS appear to work correctly. However, if you delete and then add say a new knob its access goes to the back of the order when re-loading a preset. This then means you would have to re-make every preset again. Another reason why unique naming is critical, certainly during development. The user guide and component reference manuals are very limited in this and many other respects. Part of the fun is finding stuff out!

Step sequencers: I’ve attached a few Synthmaker ones with some FSMs I converted a while ago. They may be useful but the guy to ask is nix I believe.

Random generator/Source of uncertainty: Someone here, maybe me, could design this but we need a specification, output traces or something to go on like I found with the wave folder thingy.

Ring modulation: This is probably the easiest of all things to achieve in FS/SM. You just use a stream multiply prim and put a wave into each input. The output is then one input multiplied by the other and it works fine.

Synthmaker: Once Flowstone was established, DSPR put up the final version of Synthmaker Pro for free on the old Synthmaker site and fortunately I have it and you can get it here
https://www.dropbox.com/s/7zzn252ss591a ... 5.zip?dl=0
No key is needed and it’s the full version with no restrictions. If DSPR ask me to remove this link I will comply of course, but I see it as promoting Flowstone which has many advantages. I did a test install on a 64 bit Windows 7 PC and it worked fine.

If there are any more points or queries or help needed please just say.

OFF TOPIC: Mr Brown, I’d be fascinated to see some of your painting! Is there a website or could you put up one or two images?

Cheers

Spogg

I find it helpful to do a 'SAVE ALL PROGRAM' file from the PreSetManager.

It is just a TEXT file. I can then view every Preset Parameter in this text list, and identify any thing I missed, or a duplicate slipped in [I've accidentally left an 'experimental module' inside a schematic].
