Postby jjs » Thu May 02, 2013 10:16 pm

Hi,

anyone else has the same problem?

I can't access the SM synthmaker forum.
It keeps returning to the home page.

Tested here with Firefox and Chrome - no problems.
Are you able to get logged in - or can you not even get that far?
All schematics/modules I post are free for all to use - but a credit is always polite!

The forum is still there but the button on the home page is disabled... if you use the full URL it still works

http://www.synthmaker.co.uk/forum/

(the wiki seems to be gone)

Yep that's it, just the button don't work.

Why suddenly the button don't work?
That's not something you just change.

Nooooooo. . . Don't go

SM forums is such a treasure trove of knowledge and years of experience in the very fundamental topics of vst dev with FS

I hope they keep the forums alive :o

I started experiencing this issue about two weeks ago, the Forum and Wiki tabs on the main home page did not work, they just kept popping up the main page( other tabs like "News", etc still worked). I thought it was just me having the issue since no one else had commented on it. I am using IE browser in Win XP.

To get around, I just googled something like "synthmaker biquad" and selected a link that was from the SynthMaker forum. Then I could still go up to the "Board" link to access all of the forum. Forum search still works once there or you can still just browse the individual sections.

After the clusterf@ck that happened last fall Malc more-or-less promised they would leave the old forum in place (although not indefinately).

I think this is consistant with that.... a few gig of disc space on their server is no biggy so they will likely be OK with leaveing the old stuff in place for a while yet but they clearly don't want the old forum to take away from the new and I think seeing people posting on both to get answers might have shown it was time for some kind of move.

This is a reasonable interim step to avoid a repeat of the vitrol that they incurred last year.

I'm not sure FS is ever going to take off (so I'm still on the fence about learning Ruby) but SM is certainly dead... RIP.
