Diode Break Point Wave Shaper
Hello Gang,
This is more of a demo for a “Diode Break Point Shaper”, yet it does provide another wave shaper for you all to experiment with. This demonstrates the classic diode shaper that converts a Triangle wave to a Sine wave. As you can see this is a VERY simple example as it only uses 4 diodes (min/max diode simulation), 4 for the positive and 4 for the negative. If you go inside the device you could of course add many more diodes (again min and max functions) to get as many break points as you wish. The more break points you add the better the sine wave will look and the lesser harmonics you will end up with.
This can of course be used as just a wave shaper for any other waveform you wish. Also for some fun try using LFO’s on some of the modulation inputs.
Well that’s it, enjoy and PLEASE comment!
Later then, BobF…..
P.S., If you are still interested in this sort of shaper, just do an internet search, there’s plenty of information out there on “Diode Break Point Waves shapers”.

Re: Diode Break Point Wave Shaper
G'day Bob ...well it happened again...[ all toolbox items disappear]..
So I guess there must be a bug in my toolbox that's causing it....that's a long shot...
probably not very plausible...but it's the only thing i could think of.
Anyway Bob...no major harm..takes me less than 30 sec to fix the toolbox.
But I can't read your schematics...so I'm not happy about that..

Re: Diode Break Point Wave Shaper
I just checked this out Bob and it loaded and worked fine in 3.06 (Windows 7 32 bit). I loaded from the file, so FS wasn’t loaded first. That sometimes causes the toolbox not to show (on very big schematics I think), but I’ve never had a toolbox corruption happen by doing that way. It’s better to load FS first, and then open the fsm.
I remember using this analogue technique to create something like a sine wave from a triangle and the sound could be trimmed to be fairly pure. The only real drawback was it was a bit temperature-dependant for the diodes. Not so with digital tech!
Thanks for sharing.
Cheers
