Midi Learn

Postby 303guy » Tue May 20, 2014 2:34 pm

Hey,

I hope someone can help.

I'm new to Flowstone - trying to make a simple synth.

Can anyone show me how to set up midi assignable controllers, so that I can control some of the knobs on the synth with an external midi controller?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

hello 303guy and welcome to FS forums. Most default knobs and controllers in FS toolbox contain otional midi input. To assign certain knob to certain midi parameter klick on the little "p" in the right-bottom corner of the knob. The Properties menu will open where you can toggle MIDI cc on/off and select number of the midi cc parameter.

If you are looking for a way to learn midi controller after your plugin is exported, that is a little more complicated, but still doable.

Thanks KG - that's a great help!

Yes, I would like the synth to have a midi learn option so that functions could be assigned to any midi controller knob - do you know of any working examples?

And here is my version of "Trog's knob", using a learn\forget features (with right button press). the Ruby built-in midi learn in that knob causes crashes and never fixed (and seems like no one but Trog can fix it...).

Been away, just back. Thx so much kortezzzz & nix for your examples - hugely appreciated.
I've been trying to incorporate the midi learn from nix's knob into a synth to make those knobs midi learnable. Trouble is the synth already has a midi in menu & seems to conflict with the drop down menu in the midi learn knob. Also when I create a standalone exe, it doesn't have a midi in menu at all. I want the standalone exe to have the Midi In menu, but when I use just the Midi input menu in NIx's midi learn knob there is no Midi In menu in the standalone exe. I do want to use Nix's knob. Can anyone advise how might I go about this?
