FlowStone V3 Announced
Exciting times at DSPRobotics, V3 of their FlowStone software is announced for September/October 2012.
This marks the first version of FlowStone to fully incorporate the features of their sister application SynthMaker. FlowStone V3 will become the new replacement for SynthMaker and not only continue with the rapid development platform for EXE applications but also incorporate the VST plugin export features for making digital audio plugins.

Re: FlowStone V3 Announced
The rental idea is no good. I would like to buy a copy that can be owned and not turned off.
Edit
I was wrong it seems you can purchase it. FlowStone Professional is also available to buy for $799. Please contact us for more details. So I am very relieved.

love having my posts deleted by a company that cant handle any criticism at all! shows real class, and a lack of effort to even try to sort anything out!
your software isnt worth such an insanely high price, especially for people who only want to make VSTs. paying a monthly fee is insane as well, especially for people who are on a very limited budget.
I (like many others) purchased Synthmaker pro, (myself purchasing not a few months ago) for a fairly high price. just taking it away from us is NOT COOL!
I was using synthmaker to build a portfolio for my college application....when I get asked to see how I work, what the hell am i suppose to do now? say "oh I just use this thing that's old and not available anymore!"?
unless you make a cut down version for just VSTS (and GIVE IT to your old SM customers....you know, the people who supported you and got your company going?) I don't see any reason why I (and many others who feel the same way) should use your new software for such an extreme price.
I just don't see it here. why would you do it this way? unless you are going to be releasing updates every week (or other week) a monthly fee just doesn't work.

We reserve the right to delete any post that is inappropriate and uses bad language!
In response to your now more constructive questions:

We haven't taken it away from you you can still use SM and you will get a new version in the near future called FlowStone V3. Any recent purchases will get some cross over credit. So SynthMaker lives on as FlowStone and will continue to be developed in the future.

Well if you took the time to look at our Education Page you will see that we have made some great deals for Students and Teachers ie: $1.99/Month for a Student License:

Previously we issued one big update every year which cost $150.00 and a cost of $799.00 to buy the software in the first place. We have now dropped the initial investment and only charge for the update, which can be yearly, monthly or quarterly - that's up to you. This way we can release new updates each month as the new features are developed rather than saving them up for a year.

Re: FlowStone V3 Announced
-academic page wont load here.
-I never saw $799 for synthmaker. I have a reciept with paypal saying I paid $199 (partial discount from FL Studio).
-to set up a monthly fee system is to require an internet connection to use the software. this is just simply not possible when I'm at school, or during my (frequent) connection drops. this makes buying at full price the only real option open to me, and I don't need all that robotics stuff. can't you just simply make a cheaper version or something for the SM users? with SM u had personal, enterprise, and Pro. why cant you just offer Flowstone as a "VST" edition or something and cut out the stuff (and price) you wouldn't need.
the problem here is that your original target audience (the music community) is being seriously isolated with this move. it really can't be that hard to try and keep things the old way for one edition of the software.

Not strictly true, the rental upgrade plan only needs an internet connection once in a month. Even then it won't drop you in it but will give you warnings for a few weeks.

Re: FlowStone V3 Announced
I personally like the rental mode and the way that they have set it up very much. My use is sporadic with months between projects. Suits my needs well. All I could ask for would be a time out after my last use to automatically go to rent idle but it's not hard to see why you wouldn't want to do that.
Hmm, I'm assuming that I can continue to use .exe and .vst creations when my subscription is idle. It just occurred to me to question that. What's the truth of it?

Re: FlowStone V3 Announced
Well lets say your project has over the allotted free version amount of components. So you work on it for two days and then you are off doing what you need to survive and your rental time comes to an end. Then you come up with some more time to work but your rental time has run out .... you will have to pay rent to be able to work on that project because it is over the component limit.... see.
That could be very costly for those of us that cannot put huge amounts of time in but have to spread it over months and years. The other reason renting is bad would be if DspRobotics failed as a company or someone died. Your software would time out leaving you with a permanent trial version. It is by far better to own.

A common mistake that people make when trying to design something completely foolproof is to underestimate the ingenuity of complete fools.

I agree there should be a vst only version of Flowstone or at least a discount for us SM users to buy Flowstone and not rent it. I mean we did our part to support them over the years.
