Crashing on start-up [solved]

You can also try the .net redistributable:
http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download ... x?id=24690
Downloaded and installed-still no good.
i then installed visual studio C++ 2008 for fun- still no good.
Don't want to give up trying but,
it's not looking good for "me and flowstone"at the moment.
1: developing on a crappy old laptop(where flowstone works) is not viable.
2: Unfortunatly,i'm not in a position for a fresh XP install-current CPU is fully loaded with
every program I need, and has run glitch free for about 3 years now-don't want to touch it.
3: I'm sorry, but i hate the toolbox with a passion
4: not real happy about the pricing structure-
Will let you know if i get a result, after the anti virus and malware check later in the week.
Looks like I'm stuck on SM.
It's a bummer for so many reasons. and ruby looks great-and it dosn't seem that hard..
Worst part is not being able contribute and work with the SM cummunity on flowstone stuff.

Nothing anywhere? It should be at least in the FlowStone install folder. Without it the software won't work at all so if you don't have it on your system then it's never going to work. The file is part of the FS install.

That's a shame. We think it's a big improvement. You're not restricted to a tiny, unrecognisable image of each component so its much easier to distinguish one from another. Also the full name of the component is visible. The search should be much improved too.
I hope we can get this problem fixed for you so that you can try it and hopefully you will change your mind.

That just shows us how crap the Windows XP search system is.
The file is there, in the Flowstone folder.

It's the endless scrolling up and down that's doing my head in with the mousewheel. Not real
good for arthritis/tendonitis. The blue arrow buttons are even more annoying; at the moment
you got one on the bottom and one on the top, which forces the user to keep moving from the
top to the bottom till they find what they want. Drives me nuts.
Can i suggest up/down buttons at the top and the bottom of toolbox, to prevent user mouse
movement for no reason, and speed the control up a bit in general usage??

Not giving up on it yet. Have waited a long time for an SM update. And the the stuff that the boys are
already creating with it is starting to turn me on. And I started breadboarding a few years ago, so the robotics
stuff could come in handy as a next step. And the toolbox, well, I'd have to shut down production for about
a month, to re-organize the whole thing so i have a "workflow" that is bearable.
Not looking forward to that, but it is do-able. Suppose I could even try it on my laptop...

I'm glad you guys are still intereseted. Negative feedback or bug reports is always the best feedback.
You guys must be having fun with this one-I havn't got a clue.
What if I upload my whole Flowstone folder for an inspection??

Re: Crashing on start-up
Hang on a minute, something dosn't make sense.
First, there's a file "report.exe"(crash report) in the folder.
Now, remember i said after openeing i can push the pop up window out of the way,
and save/load files, pull things out of toolbox, and so on...ect
It's only when i close the pop up error window, that flowstone crashes.
So my question is:
how is this crash report system designed???
At what point is it programmed to register that an error has occurred???

Re: Crashing on start-up
I downloaded and installed "RubyInstaller 1.9.3-p327"- didn't help.
i updated Norton and ran full system scan-took about 7 hours- found a few bugs-
but Flowstone still does the same thing.
had an issue on the laptop as well. It refused to open the example file, saying there were
errors. I went into options and chose "start with empty schematic". Then it was ok again.
Quickly rushed back to my main CPU to try it- but it had no effect.
i am sending constant error reports back to microsoft- but I'm not really expecting a reply.

Next to the slow mousewheel scrolling there's something else that's buggy: e.g. when having the white poly icon activated and searching the toolbox, it is impossible to find the poly add / sub / mul components. The same goes for the green icon...

Latest dummy spit for ruby was in Fl Studio, when loading "DreamSequencer" by Nix.
This "DreamSequencer" is a Flowstone modified version.
It also crashed my soundcard in the process(everytime).

Re: Crashing on start-up
Support thinks your XP install is incomplete.
I am going to get as many people as possible to test the .dll .
It's a pain, you would love to try the new timers I'm sure.
If you can get FS up, I will pm u some tricks I have got working.
Best
PS-you could try on the laptop?
edit- I changed my post a bit coz I see u have SP3.
I dunno what to do

yeh mate, it runs on the laptop.
i couldn't do timing test as i had trouble getting output.
Will try again later in the day.

Probably right. Is there a way to repair XP install without fresh overwrite and install?
If I remember right, there's an issue there.????
A re-install of SP3 might be the go....???
