Crashing on start-up [solved]

I can't access windows firewall. No Windows Updates possible either.

Oh damn,
time to back up
and wipe the slate clean.
With getting output in FL,
the only way I have been able to route it is
using a 'patcher' channel.

Yeh, just winding up the last update to X11.
I did research the XP repair thing. is feasible without data and program loss.
Will give it a shot after back up.

Still running FL9 on the laptop(no patcher). Tests will have to wait till put FL10 on.

Been mucking around with custom ticker. Ruby is harder than i thought.
Could be cool first project in Flowstone. A standard timer with division rates , ready to go.
Have you already done this Nix?

Hi Support, are you still there?

i had backed up ready for XP re-install/repair. Decided to poke around a bit more.
Download a fix online that got Microsoft Updates working again . Fully updated System now,
using Zonealarm for Firewall & antivirus.

Flowstone still crashes !!!.

The only other problem I'm seeing is that my Desktop keeps getting "auto arranged" by something
(probably traces of Norton install/un-install)..tracking that bug now. If it wasn't for the
"Desktop restore" program by Midiox I would have kicked the crap out of this CPU by now.

And my CPU start up and shutdown times are far too long. So somethings still wrong,
even after all the Microsoft updates.
So its 3 issues with my CPU at the moment....
1.Ruby incompatiblity
2.Desktop rearranged at startup
3. Long wait times for startup and shut down.
Other than that, the CPU/System is sweet as.

Slowly getting somewhere, or quickly going nowhere. I don't know.

Open flowstone, dodge the error pop up, drag a "Ruby" module from toolbox and it says
this. (Note:Loading a Empty schematic) Hope this helps.....

These timers are easy to plug in a BPM to.
K-if check the DreamSequence and find the timing OK,
I'll share what I did.
The Ruby timer is better than a tick100/25
for accuracy.
Also the speed,
it shuts down at like 8000hz here, when the Ruby code module says I am using too much cpu.
This isn't the case, I am watching my CPU usage,
anyway-it's pretty nice compared to the ticks

However- I ended up getting the DS clock from the arp example.
So MIDI is sample accurate, and Ruby is sample accurate.
It's better than the timer if use arp,
route to MIDI splitter to turn it green,
then use a 'trigger thread' into your green counter.
This uses MIDI timing as best it can,
and the 'thread' dissallows errors from graphic redraws.

So I thought I'd share a small success, gettingh my old schematics to work.

Thanks mate. Just don't know weather I'll jump on the Flowstone bandwagon.
I' m using it on the laptop a fair bit now, and still not getting a good vibe.
I'm seeing how the toolbox can be easily customised, which is a relief somewhat.
Ruby is something else though. Learning curve seems a bit too much for me.

I ran some other registry cleaners( "Wise" and CCleaner") and my pop up error changed
a bit.

First: A couple of months back the same "msvcr90-ruby191.dll" issue turned up on the laptop.
When the same error appeared from SM- I ditched Flowstone from the laptop, and let FS go.

Now back on my main CPU,

I downloaded "Chief Architect", which uses the "msvcr90-ruby191.dll". No issues at all.

So why does Flowstone crash at start-up, blaming the "msvcr90-ruby191.dll".??????

I'm not convinced on the XP re-install theory- (due to the success running "Chief Architect")
As it seems to be a memory problem, would it make sense to load my CPU with Brand New Memory??


PS. have tried the new 3.01 FS Update. Same thing.

tried it again. Same thing.
Outsim gave me that tip few months back, i went through it all- \system\32, Registry, Docs and Settings/program Files. Didn't solve it.

And "outsim".....Please exuse me for keeping this "negative" post alive. It's just the best bug I've ever come
across. Can't resist the challenge...you know...
