Re: Yet Another Oscillator
Just wanted to see how it sounds with saw wave. Sits pretty well. There is a danger of this ending up in my newbie synth...
Download
Recipe:
5 teaspoons of toolbox modules
2 grams of saw
2 cups of Martins oscillators
Stir a few minutes until color turns to blue and there is a discernible sound output...
Edit:
I'll probably incorpotate some kind of simple modulation scheme when placed in my plugin eventually.
Slightly more than just mixing with saw like this. But even like this on it's own the cascade osc works. I like the idea of adding only subtle amount of range and curv, seems a very good way of adding flavor to another wave. Maybe adding some faked instability?
I'm not advanced FS:er but I can imagine MVs cascade oscillator also being a nice mod source for another FM style schematic.

Re: Yet Another Oscillator
Ok. This oscillator seems to have ended up in my Aux Oscillator together with a phase offset:ed Sine... As a "squiggly sine" waveform...
MV I have a little question
The visualisation you made of the transfer curve. No chance I understand or can deconstruct the math
Does the lower most left corner of that box represent the origin of the curve or the way you applied the curve in your math? Or is the origin right in the middle of the box like a typical parabolic curve example commonly seen?

Re: Yet Another Oscillator
Sorry I didn‘t explain it well. The origin is at the center of the square, axes are missing. x goes from -1 to 1, and so does y. The transfer curve has to stay completely within the box, else there will be a catastrophic amplification of partials.

Nice! Also looks a bit cooler as a small visual with a crosshair
