Is there a way to make Waveform symbols ?

For general discussion related FlowStone

Is there a way to make Waveform symbols ?

Postby Halon » Tue May 14, 2019 7:39 pm

Ive been wanting to use waveform symbols instead of the actual name of the waveform e.g Sawtooth. Could this be done in Ruby perhaps? Although i have zero experience with Ruby and coding in general.

Cheers.

The only thing that immediately came to mind was this little waveform selector from an ancient SM schematic, the builder of which didn't identify themselves. Uses bitmaps for the waveshapes, which I don't know how to create.

I made up some graphic symbols for an EQ display ... Bell, Shelf, Hi/Low Pass, using RUBY's draw Line commands.

It was a bit clumsy to connect all the line segments [using coordinate points], but it definitely worked.

You could use bitmaps for sure.

I think a good idea would be a true type font with all of those symbols, upsize them and then save them as a .png in inkscape. There's a font for everything.

They'd be really clean looking.

Hi Halon, hi everybody,

I currently am working on a set of symbols for synths, waveforms included. I can't promise when those will be finished, as I have a lot to do. I'll share those maybe in the next two weeks.

Best Regards
Phil

@ Kevin Brown

Thank you! :)

@Everybody else

Ive tried making waveforms in Paint, save them as bitmaps and open them up in Flowstone. The only thing that keeps me from doing that is that it looks aweful. But thanks for your input. :)

Hi Halon,

you might want to try vector graphics, as with bitmaps it will be very hard to do. If you want to give it a try, a free program with plenty of tuts on youtube would be "Inkscape".

Best Regards
