Re: Latest update for Martin's 'Randy' synth
If I get the chance I'll make a few hundred presets. Most people don't have the time to figure out synths. If You'd mention My name I could probably do that for some synths on Your site; For a link.
k brown wrote:Cool stuff Trog ! - thanks for those.
I especially like 'Astral Piccolo' with a taste of MVerb 7 added.
UPDATED the Randy schematic in the previous post to allow replacing the VCF and VCA Aftertouch with any of several real-time performance controllers (footpedal, breath, wheels, etc.), and button to disconnect the wheel from the LFO when used for VCF and/or VCA.
Also, I neglected to add the '+' to the global preset name for Randy + (which I've now done; above schem replaced), so here's Trog's presets renamed to work in the now-correctly param-named Randy +.

Re: Latest update for Martin's 'Randy' synth
Guys, thanks for all these activities around Randy and MVerb7!
I would like to host my version on my site and link to Kevin's site for a cool GUI and great additions. It may take a while before I get to it - I have to update La Voz Cantante and MIDI Choir first.
Yes, Kevin, please go ahead. And if Spogg wants to crosslink, that would be welcome, too.
There are 4 oscillators for each note which may be detuned relative to each other. Each time a note is played an individual wavetable is generated by means of an inverse FFT. The harmonics intensities are according to the controls settings, while the phases of each overtone are random. Hence each note you play is unique.
Unusual Osc Controls:
Tilt: adds a spectral slope in dB/octave over the entire audio range, positive or negative
Pluck: imitates a plucked string spectrum depending on where you hit
Harmonix: drops certain harmonics from the series (odd harmonics for pan flute etc.) A crucial ingredient for Vibraphone, Harmonica.
Damp: suppress higher harmonics
Hard Cut: takes out all harmonics above a certain number. Like a brickwall lowpass. Was intended for organ sounds.

I'd also love it if he could provide a little more info on Randy than we have at this point - especially a little more on specifically what the various unusual osc controls do.

The added info is much appreciated - thanks so much!
Was a digit left out of "dB/oct", or is this a concept I don't understand?

Re: Latest update for Martin's 'Randy' synth
A favor to ask - can someone whose downloaded both Randy and Randy + send me .dlls for them; It seems that the problem I was having with volume jumps on them was due to my old PC not rendering the .dlls properly; it will play the one Martin sent me fine, but not ones I make myself! i upgraded from 3.0.6 to 3.0.8.1, but still no go.
Thanks so much.

Here you go.
Exported with FS 3.06 and both tested in Reaper with no volume or other issues noticed.

OOPS - I just noticed, those are not from the latest versions from post #6, which have significant updates.

Oh dear!
I had assumed that the first post would contain the latest version, which is quite often the norm here.
Anyways, I’ve done the same and attached the plugins below. I added trog’s presets to the plus version. They sound really good. If you didn’t want these added just say and I’ll re-do.
Cheers
