Very cool, I like the mic placement thing. It sounds harsh on my laptop (well, because its a laptop) and I haven't tried it in a host but all in all a nice project!

Thanks MyCo, I started to remove the type cast to uint8_t to use uint16_t and noticed that I would have to change everything.
Then I read your reply, I figure it's no big deal adding extra bytes to the serial data stream as this thing is not "mission critical" and an update every 500ms would be no ...

@MyCo,
Why are you shifting the analog read right 2 bits in the sketch? The Arduino chip (Atmega8, Atmega168, Atmega328, or Atmega1280) all use 10 bit A/D's. I got this to work for my UNO by commenting the shr 2 out... Then in the schematic changing the div by 255 to div by 1. Right?

Yes I couldn't agree more. I have been reading Mastering Regular Expressions Third Edition. The first few chapters really helped me to understand them a little more, always learning though.
I have followed your skills from the SM forum and am in constant amazement on how easy this all seems to come ...
