couple of questions

Post by Jay »

I have a couple of questions and was gonna send a mail but, I think a lot of ppl want to know the answer to these questions too! Fist one is one which is popping up a lot when i show ppl FlowStone!

1. A lot of established electronics tinkerers already have expensive interface boards and sensors, most that i have spoken to would not be happy to buy another one just to use the software, will FlowStone work with brands other than Phidgets?

2. In the Uk and Europe will we be able to purchase the hardware from you guys or will it only be direct from Phidgets.com in the USA?

Me, I havn't got a board yet so i am not too concerned with the first question but i am with the second!

Throughout my career in mobile coms and other electronic device industries, I have seen the poor state some highly insured and valuable equipment get delivered in after transatlantic couriering,Damaged to say the least! So i am a wee bit dubious about sending of to the USA for stuff. lol the British Royal Mail ain't any better! It might get here ok but they are sure to magic it into tiny pieces somewhere between landfall and my front door!

Best regards

Whilst we are concentrating on the Phidgets range right now as it is the most comprehensive, FlowStone will also work with other interface boards and the range will expand as time goes by.
A good example of this is the LynxMotion servo boards: 32 servos controlled via a COM port, we already have example files for this on the forum.

Also the KMTronic Relay boards, also a COM Port Device plus an example project is on the forum.

In the UK check out Active Robots (http://www.active-robots.com/) they are the Phidgets and LynxMotion distributors.

Grand! thanks for the reply!

Thats good news, and should appease the folk who already have the hardware! :D

and even better news that some of the compatible bits are available in the UK!

I have also found a few companies who carry some of the Phidgets gear in the UK too, so i will contact some of these companies in the new week and see what they can supply :D

Best regards
