Phidgets 8/8/8 pwm output question

Post by machinist »

Hi guys,

How can I make a PWM output from a phidgets 8/8/8? I want to create a PWM output to feed my motor controller. I am trying to do this without having to upgrade (Yet), and so my only output is the 8/8/8.

Ultimately, I need the 8/8/8 to output a RC servo pulse.

Thanks for your input.

Sorry no, the max output frequency of the 888 is too slow.

You will need a servo board, the good news is that there of lot's of these and some are really cheap. Pololu & Parallax make some good low cost versions that work with FlowStone:

Also if you want to be a geek you can also use the sound card to drive two servos with PWM!

Is it possible to output a serial command from the phidgets board.

Again I think your will find it too slow and the timing not accurate enough.

If you want serial then just get a USB - serial adapter!

I understand what you mean about speed. Got the motor controller running like a champ via USB-Serial adapter through an RS232-TTL level converter.
